Erienne's Current Condition

I know a lot of folks are wondering how Erienne is doing after undergoing yet another embolization treatment on her AVM (arteriovenous malformation) on Monday.

I spoke with her dad, Paul Romaine, earlier today and he said that, although the doctors were able to seal off a good amount more of the flow of blood to the AVM during this procedure, the head neurosurgeon felt that it was necessary to go in and surgically remove the AVM completely.

So, yesterday (Tuesday, March 7) Erienne spent 6.5 hours in surgery so that the doctors could completely remove the AVM. After removing it, they then had to seal off more than 100 vein/arteries that fed the AVM, making sure that none were left uncauterized.

Today, still in ICU, Erienne had to undergo an angiogram to ensure that all of the AVM was removed and that the cauterizations were all sealed off. She still needs our prayers and thoughts as she is in a lot of pain. The prognosis looks good, but she still faces another week in the hospital, and then probably another 6 weeks recovery at home.

Of course, the medical bills for the Romaine's just skyrocketed. If you can help out at all, please visit the store portion of her website, where you can not only buy her CD (which truly is wonderful!), but you can donate (securely) via their online store.

I'm sure that there will be further updates here in the coming days...Paul, Chris & Lauryn just wanted everyone to know that Erienne is alright and, though in pretty rough shape right now, the future looks good!!!

We appreciate the current information about Erienne, Todd. Dale and I continue to have her and her family in our prayers and thoughts.
Dozens of people have called KUVO asking for information, too.
Erienne - you are a most loved and cherised person. We need you back with us in the jazz community as you have such a talent to share with all of us here and way beyond!
Love,
Jude Hibler and Dale Bruning
